This week, our church is working on a house for Habitat for Humanity. I have spent much of the week on a roof sweating like a maniac. I love it. Nothing soothes the soul like the sound of pounding hammers and the whir of power tools. If the Church ever fires me, I'm becoming a contractor.
When I get a chance, I'm finishing my thoughts on Romans 8:28.
By the way, have any of you worked with Habitat before? Anything that I should know?

I wouldn't feel right about supporting, much less working for, an organization that builds houses for unmarried couples.
We did that last summer--it was a great bonding time for some guys in our congregation.
It was also a chance to speak with others.
I don't have the problem creekman has--helping others doesn't imply consent, agreement or support of everything they do.
I think there is a distinction to be made between helping others and helping others to continue in their sin. Building a house for two people to "shack up" together is, at least in my mind, like handing a drunkard a bottle of beer. How is that really helping him? I realize that people need a place to live, but do they need a place to live in sin?
Maybe I'm just heartless.
