How Dare He!

Homosexuality is immoral. So says Marine General Peter Pace. Check out the entire story here. Do you think he'll catch some heat over this?

I believe homosexual acts between two individuals are immoral

Yep. No problem there.

we should not condone immoral acts

Okay, what are you talking about here?

I do not believe the United States is well served by a policy that says it is okay to be immoral in any way

Well that's problematic because you're saying then that the military needs Christian moral codes. Yet the military is made up of non-Christians. I mean, what's your position on adultery?

The military prosecutes service members who sleep with the spouse of another member of the armed forces

Fine. But what if a member of the military sleeps with a spouse of someone who's not in the military? Or hires a prostitute? Are you going to prosecute them?

And what about greed? What if members of the military worship a different god, or are atheists?

OSO,

Thanks for stopping by. I'm with you on #1. I agree with the general that we shouldn't condone immoral acts. (Who gets to define that?)

To be fair on the immorality thing to General Pace, I don't think he appealed to Christianity. Rather, he appealed to his upbringing, which is an even more dubious guide to ethics.

I don't know if the military prosecutes for sexual misconduct with non-military persons. I would bet that it could.

Greed is convictable if it leads to theft. Simple heart covetousness is not enough for prosecution. They may worship another false god if they choose, but the laws and rules have to come from somewhere. If not Christianity, then I suppose the General's mom will do for now.

Did you hear Hillary Clinton's reply when asked if she thought homosexuality to be immoral? She said something like, "I'll leave that for others to decide." What a typical political answer.

To express his beliefs is "irresponsible"...so says the article.

Would they have said the same thing if he would have expressed his beliefs in the opposite direction?

Yes, gays might have been offended, but if he supported it, I would be offended, yet his actions wouldn't be deemed irresponsible for supporting homosexuality.

What a messed up world we live in.
